When I bought the property, I was drawn to the location. Because the house is located so close to everything, you don’t even need to move your car on the weekend.
Canton is such a great neighborhood! It’s very walkable with numerous restaurants and bars close by. This house is located a block from Canton Square, 1 mile from Fells Point and a quarter of a mile to the water so it is easy to get outside and get involved in different activities. We enjoy playing a plethora of social sports including softball, kickball, football, dodgeball, cornhole skeeball and volleyball. All of the outdoor sports are played right in Patterson Park and are a short walk from the house. There are always fun events going in Canton or the surrounding neighborhoods. It is very close to I-95 and a short distance to I-83. The Canton area is wonderful because it is full of individuals who enjoy the city life while having a more residential feel. The sidewalks are always full of people walking their dog or taking a stroll with their children. There are numerous block parties throughout the year.
We love to eat at Gunther and Company for a nice dinner. Towson Hot Bagels or Iron Rooster for Breakfast. Lees Pint and Stackhouse for great drinks and bar food. Verde has the best brick oven pizza and Pasta Mista has great pizza by the slice. And you can’t forget Bmore Licks for the best ice cream. There are so many options! We love to go on walks around the promenade, which connects all the way to the inner harbor and beyond. We also love to walk to restaurants on the weekends to enjoy a nice meal out. It is very convenient to meet up with friends at any of the local bars for a refreshing drink!
Safeway is short walking distance from the house. A short drive away, about one mile, is Harris Teeter and Target. Whole Foods is about a mile and a half away too.
A few other things I can mention are that the house has a beautiful exposed brick on both floors that adds a lot of charm and character. Additionally, the house has an additional half bath on the main floor which provides convenience for me and guests I have over. Lastly, the rooftop deck has views of the harbor, great views of the fireworks shows for the 4th of July and New Years and an amazing vantage point of the airshow.
We use BGE and that runs us about an average of $90-$110/month depending on the season and how hot or cold the weather is. We use Comcast for our cable/internet which costs about $170/month. The water is supplied through the city and costs about $50/month.
