Living in and around College Park provides us the ability to take part in all the area has to offer. Parks, lakes, shopping and restaurants are all within walking distance. The Hyattsville Arts District and redevelopment around College Park and Prince George’s Plaza are very popular areas. Public-transit options further extend the possibilities with both the Metro system and MARC trains available to take you to Washington, Baltimore, and beyond. Local Northeast and Paint Branch Trails connect cycling commuters or recreational enthusiasts to Washington DC through the Anacostia Trail System.
Berwyn Heights is a quiet community with tree-lined streets, friendly neighbors, and many parks for walking or playing. Lake Artemesia is a short walk away and provides miles of paths for walking, biking, fishing, or just sitting and enjoying the views. Local sport fields and community centers are also nearby for additional recreational activities. Berwyn Heights has updated playgrounds, and our kids especially enjoy having Pop’s Park just a few blocks away and the popular Indian Creek playground is right down the street.
There are many popular restaurants nearby and especially some local favorites like Franklins, FishNets, Gah Rham (Korean Buffet), and Spice Six.
There is a great variety of grocery stores and farmers markets nearby, and organic chains like Yes Market and Whole Foods are a short drive away. The local Target is within walking distance and it is always well stocked for grocery, household items, and everything else – including Starbucks!
When we moved to Berwyn Heights we were drawn to its proximity to DC, the University of Maryland, and the M-Square Research Park. BWI, Dulles and National Airports are easily accessible by car or train. Additionally, there are many federal agencies with offices in College Park, providing a traffic free commute.
What we like most about Berwyn Heights is the quiet streets and friendly neighbors, while being minutes away from restaurants, shopping, parks, movies, pools, bowling, and the University of Maryland sporting events. There redevelopment efforts underway in the neighboring areas of Greenbelt, College Park, Adelphi and Hyattsville which are steadily increasing the popularity of the area.
