Baltimore has a rich history and I love that about the area I live in. It is also conveniently located to many restaurants and just a short distance to the Baltimore Harbor.
The thing I love the most about my home is that Herring Run Park is across the street from my house. I enjoy sitting outside in the morning with coffee and listening to the woodpeckers, watching the hawks fly over, seeing the deer graze and the squirrels play. There are also occasional sightings of a raccoon or fox. This little touch of nature is a part of Baltimore that most people don’t get to see. Herring Run Park also has a great walking path, fishing, playgrounds, a basketball court, and picnic areas in its 375 acres of woodland.
What drew me to this neighborhood is that there are still original owners here and many of their family members and children have stayed in the area and purchased homes. It is a very tight-knit community. One of the original owners just turned 100!
My favorite places to eat are The Hamilton Tavern and Pappas. Coco’s Pub and the Red Canoe are in walking distance – as is Zeke’s Coffee. There is a Safeway nearby (within walking distance) and several other grocery stores and pharmacies within a short drive.
I like that there are walking trails — one in the park and the loop around Lake Montebello. The neighbors are friendly and are there if you need just about anything. I also love that with the park across the street — the parking is plentiful. It is never an issue.
Other things I love about the area are the nearby Yoga Studio and the Farmer’s Market on Harford Road where you can get great local produce and much more!
Utility costs: The water bill is about $50 a month. BGE is usually around $70 a month in the months without the air conditioning. About $140 a month in the height of the summer.
