Our neighborhood is a great place for families, dog lovers, or just anyone who likes to be surrounded by incredibly kind people. We have awesome neighbors who always say “hi” and wave when you walk or drive by. You don’t have to be shy about asking a neighbor for help either. It’s a very generous and vibrant community.
We fell in love with this house primarily because of the location and the charm of the neighborhood. It was also very convenient that the house had just been fully renovated inside. We personally are very outdoorsy, and our house offered a ton of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing…etc. We’re within short driving distance of multiple state parks.
The things we love about Mt. Washington are the close-proximity to Lake Roland Park and the Mt. Washington Village. The park offers awesome hiking trails, a dog park, nature center, and a cute playground. We’re also incredibly close to the Light Rail that takes you all the way to Camden Yards on game day. And finally, for summer fun there is one of the areas’ best private pools, Meadow Brooke Swim Club — previously owned by Michael Phelps.
The Mt. Washington Village has great restaurants and bars. Don’t miss The Nickel Taphouse’s french fries and long list of beers on draft! You can also pop out to Falls Road and grab a fancy hot dog from the Haute Dog stand or a European-inspired pastry and fresh baked breads from Roggenart.
Grocery stores are plentiful! We have 3 large grocery stores all less than a 5 minutes-drive. The Quarry Lake shopping center offers a Fresh Market, Walgreens, bank, toy store, sushi joint, and nail salon.
One other great thing about our house’s location is its location in proximity to the beltway. It’s centrally located between Towson and downtown Baltimore. You can easily get to both without ever having to get on the beltway and fight all that traffic. But if you do need to hop on 695 the on-ramp is 5 minutes away!
Our utility costs are better than we have expected. In the height of the summer our Baltimore Gas & Electric bill was between $100-140. And our city water bill is usually only $25-30 a quarter.
