One of the things that we really like about Odenton is its convenience. From being walking distance to a train station to easy access to major roads and highways, it is a great location for commuters. Odenton has a location that is centralized between Baltimore and Washington, DC. It is so easy to go in any direction and find things to do and places to go – from shopping to eateries, Odenton has it all! We also like the “small town” feeling where we’re close enough to everything, but not in the heart of the city. With Odenton being a short 15 minutes from Waugh Chapel Shopping Center in Crofton, MD and 15 to 20 minutes from major malls such as Annapolis Mall and Arundel Mills Mall, Odenton is a great location for shopping – no matter what you are interested in!

Our neighborhood is small and very friendly. The neighbors do not hesitate to offer help when it is needed. A great example would be the most recent snowstorm in 2015 – everyone came outside and helped one another clear their driveways and offered shovels to anyone who did not own one. Comsource Management also provided snow removal services and helped residents clear their driveways.

The neighborhood provides a safe place for children of all ages to play together after school and a friendly atmosphere to meet up at the bus stop. The community provides walking paths to exercise, walk pets and spend time together as a family.

We love to eat at Mama Roma’s, The Hideaway and Hana. We also enjoy traveling to Crofton to eat at Red Robin, Genghis Grill, Panera and Thai. Often, we find ourselves at Dunkin Donuts and Baltimore Tea and Coffee.

Almost any chain grocery store and major retailer are a short distance away. With a newly-built (2016) Giant Food located off Annapolis Road and Food Lion in Piney Orchard Shopping Center, fresh produce is less than five minutes away. Major retailers such as Target and a 24-hour Walmart are in close proximity for late-night emergencies. With a satellite campus from the world renowned Johns Hopkins University, we can get first-class medical care without having to go to Baltimore!

When we bought the property we loved its close proximity to the Odenton MARC Train Station. You can leave your car in the garage and walk directly to the train station in less than five minutes, which makes commuting to both Baltimore and Washington very convenient. This saved us a lot of time as we reduced our morning commute from two hours to a short 20 minutes–and without the stress of parking in Washington, DC!

The Odenton area is wonderful for anyone who is working in the area and anyone who wants to start a small family. For anyone who works in the Fort Meade area or in the Washington DC metropolitan area, the convenience cannot be matched anywhere else.

Every year the Odenton Volunteer Fire Department hosts a carnival in late May. It is a great time to come out the kids and play some carnival games and ride on the ferris wheel. There is also a yearly street fair hosted by local businesses. Families from all over the area come together to eat and buy goods.

We really enjoy the sense of community during these events! We really enjoy the close proximity to three of the major malls in Maryland. We love being less than 20 minutes away from Arundel Mills Mall, Annapolis Mall and Columbia Mall. With each of these malls, there are also many great sit-down restaurants. The Village at Odenton Station provides many conveniences for families. Equipped with a daycare, nail and spa, and specialty coffee shop, everything is within walking distance from the house.

Of course we all like different things, and Odenton provides a great centralized location to many of them! We really enjoy going out to movies and doing yoga. We have a movie theater located in the Waugh Chapel Shopping Center, a short 15 minutes away! The Odenton and Crofton area are equipped with three local yoga studios — anything from gentle yoga to Bikram yoga. There’s even yoga classes in the Crofton CrossFit!

Our utility costs are fairly priced and are split between BGE and TCC Utilities. For gas and electric, BGE does a great job recommending ways to save each month on energy costs. They also provide a monthly look at how your own energy usage compares with that of your neighbors. BGE also takes care of the power lines in the area, both above and underground, and will send technicians to trim trees and remove obstructions when necessary. TCC Utilities handles water and sewage and is paid with a low, once-a-year rate.
